Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2026

CustodyCase.ai is a desktop application that runs entirely on your own computer. The short version of this policy: we don't collect anything, because there's nowhere for your data to go.

What we collect

Nothing. CustodyCase.ai has no servers, no accounts, no analytics, and no telemetry. We never see your documents, your case data, or even the fact that you installed the app.

Where your data lives

All of your documents, case information, and generated output are stored locally on your device in an encrypted database protected by a passphrase that only you know. Nothing is uploaded.

Network activity

By default, the app makes no outbound network connections. AI processing runs locally through Ollama on your machine.

The only exception is optional: if you choose to configure a cloud AI provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, or xAI) and enter your own API key, the app will send the text you ask it to analyze to that provider, under that provider's privacy policy. This is entirely opt-in and off by default. Your API key is stored in your operating system's secure keychain.

App updates

The app does not auto-update or phone home. New versions are published on our GitHub releases page, which you can check whenever you like.

Open source

CustodyCase.ai is open source under the MIT license. You don't have to take our word for any of this — the complete source code is available at github.com/randylahey-dev/CustodyCase.ai for anyone to inspect.
